New disclosures from WikiLeaks reveal that the espionage targeting German Chancellor Angela Merkel by the United States’ National Security Agency (NSA) was more intense than initially thought.
Tuesday the website released classified documents showing that U.S. intelligence listened to a telephone conversation that the German president had in 2008 with the UN secretary general, Ban Ki-moon.
In this call, the UN official called on Merkel for greater European commitment to the fight against climate change, while praising the personal intervention of the president to achieve environmental objectives.
