Real Madrid hopes to leave 7th place in La Liga

SO FAR 

In Mexican football, Chivas of Guadalajara had its first victory in Liga MX against Pachuca (1-3). Club Rayados of Monterrey defeated Necaxa (Aguascalientes) in order to consolidate their position with 20 points atop the league table.

In England, Mexican forward Javier “Chicharito” Hernández Balcázar and club West Ham United defeated Huddersfield Town (2-0), making this their first victory this season in the Premier League, where Manchester United sits in first place after tying with Stoke City (2-2), their tied at 10 points with Manchester City who defeated Liverpool (5-0) last Saturday.

In the Spanish La Liga FC Barcelona defeated RC Espanyol in the Catalunya clásico (5-0) to earn themselves the first spot on the league, while Real Madrid tied with Levante (1-1) and is currently in 9th place.

In the Netherlands Mexican player Hirving “Chucky” Lozano received a red card during his team PSV Eindhoven’s game against Heerenveen which PSV lost (2-0), a result that leaves PSV in 5th place of the Eredivisie League.

In the UEFA Champions League, FC Barcelona defeated Juventus, Real Madrid Defeated Apoel and Manchetser United defeated Basel, all by the same score (3-0). Portuguese team FC Porto, home of Mexican players Miguel Layún, Héctor Herrera, Jesús Corona and Diego Reyes, lost to Turkish team Besiktas (1-3).

In the NFL the New England Patriots lost to the Kansas City Chiefs (27-42) in Foxborough stadium, while the Indianapolis colts also suffered a humiliating defeat (9-46) against the Los Angeles Rams. Antonio Brown was the star of the Pittsburgh Steelers game against the Cleveland Browns (18-21).

In the MLB the Boston Red Sox remain leaders in the American League East  after their games against the Oakland Athletics while the Cubs lead on the National League Central even after their series against the New York Mets.

In the U.S. Open final  Rafael Nadal (1) defeated South African Kevin Anderson (28) to become the men’s champion, while Madison Keys (15) defeated Sloane Stephens to win the women’s final.

THE HAPPENING 

In the victory of FC Barcelona (FCB) against Juventus in Champions League, Lionel Messi scored his first goal ever against Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon. The call for an independence vote for Catalunya in Spain has also lingered over FCB after president of the Spanish Liga Javier Tebas said that FCB or any other Catalan team wouldn’t be able to take part in the league if Catalunya were to become independent.

Cristiano Ronaldo returned to the starting team of Real Madrid after a 5 game suspension in La Liga. Ronaldo contributed two goals.

A video surfaced earlier in the week that showed Ronaldo during a court hearing for evading taxes, in which the Real Madrid star shows his frustration by saying that he “never had this problems in England,” referring to his time at Manchester United, and that he “would like to go back.”

In Liga MX in Mexico, Puebla team Lobos BUAP remains at the bottom of the table after four defeats and and a tie, the coach Rafael Puente del Río Jr. is on the ropes after saying that he isn’t planning on quitting. Club America’s Assistant Coach Santiago Baños said during a T.V. interview with ESPN that he could and should have stopped the confrontation between then Mexican National Team coach Miguel Herrera Aguirre and  TV Azteca commentator Christian Martinoli Curi, that resulted in Herrera Aguirre being fired as coach.

Tickets for the World Cup Russia 2018 got on sale this week, the first batch of tickets will be for sale until October 12 2017. Prices range from $175 dollars all the way to $1,100 for the final.

in the NFL, Indianapolis Colts quarterback Scott Tolzien is talking heat after the Colt’s humiliating defeat in Los Angeles against the Rams, a game which he ended with just 225 average in yards.

In the MLB, the Cleveland Indians won their 21st straight game of the season on Wednesday against the Detroit Tigers (5-3) to set an American League winning-streak record , they joined only to other teams to achieve that number in the last 101 years.

Football

Xolos (Tijuana) vs América (Mexico City) – Friday 9: p.m. Estadio Client, Tijuana, Mexico City.

What could be better than a clash between the 2nd and 3rd places of Liga MX? A clash between America’s coach Miguel Herrera’s former club. Xolos could steal 2nd place if they beat America by a three goal difference.

Real Sociedad vs Real Madrid – Sunday 1:45 p.m. in Anoeta Stadium, San Sebastián, Spain.

Mexican forward Carlos Vela’s team have gotten off to a great and surprising start in La Liga, they are currently in 2nd place and tied in points with FC Barcelona, Real Madrid sits at 7th place and it will look to close the gap between themselves and their sworn Catalunya rivals (FC Barcelona).

NFL

Green Bay Packers vs Atlanta Falcons – Sunday 7:30 p.m. Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Atlanta, Georgia.

This Sunday night match up has all the makings of a perfect game, at least in paper. Falcons’ All-Pro receiver Julio Jones will be hoping to bounce back from a rocky first game against the Chicago Bears while Aaron Rodgers will hope to have another great afternoon, after proving to be the key in the game against the Seattle Seahawks last Sunday.

MLB

Kansas City Royals vs Cleveland Indians – Series started Thursday 14 and will continue through Sunday 17.

Everybody wants to see whether the Indians will continue to break records with a possible first in the MLB, a historic 23 game winning streak. History in the making!
