Players begin assembling in Mexico City on Sunday

Carlos Vela, Giovanni and Jonathan Dos Santos will conspicuous absences of the Mexican national selection team that will enter the 2016 Copa América Centenario tournament, highlighted by the return of goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa.

Colombian Juan Carlos Osorio, manager of the combined Mexican squad, trusts he made the right choices to allow the team to meet its goals.

Giovanni do Santos, player for the Los Angeles Galaxy had personally declined to be considered for the selection, although the exact motives are not known. Osorio said the decision to not include Jonathan do Santos was mutual, the decision weighed by a knee injury suffered this year. Carlos Vela was not selected because he did not have a good season with Real Sociedad, in Spain.

The contributing “Tricolor” players will begin their focus on the Copa Sunday at the Centro de Alto Rendimiento (CAR) in Mexico City, with the arrivals of Alfredo Talavera, Jesús Corona, Guillermo Ochoa, Néstor Araujo, Héctor Moreno, Yasser Corona, Jorge Torres Nilo, Rafael Márquez, Jesús Dueñas, Andrés Guardado, Jesús Molina, Jurgen Damm and Carlos Peña.

Players Diego Reyes, Javier “Chicharito” Hernández and Javier Aquino will meet in Atlanta, Georgia, on May 26; and in San Diego, California, on May 29, the team expects arrival is expected of Miguel Layún, Héctor Herrera, Jesús Manuel Corona and Raúl Jiménez.

In the case of those whose teams are eliminated this weekend in the Liga MX Clausura semifinals, they should report to the team the next night, and those who play in the final will join the team June 1 in San Diego.
