ASUNCIÓN, Paraguay – Without being spectacular, but better still on the field, the UNAM Pumas of Mexico took a 2-0 win over Olimpia of Paraguay, in the second match in Group Seven of the Copa Libertadores de América.
Colombian Luis Quiñones, after 52 minutes, and Argentine Ismael Sosa, at 70, scored the victorious goals in the match that took place at Manuel Ferreira stadium. With this result, the Pedregal are leaders in this group with six points, while the “Guarani” frame was left with zero.
A timely save from Alejandro Palacios of a “point-blank” shot by José Núñez in just three minutes, assumed that the “Decano” would have “auriazul”on the ropes. However, as the clock passed he was settling on the field, where he was then better in all aspects.
The proper functioning of the Pumas led them to be near the first goal in an excellent half turn of Eduardo Herrera that Diego Barreto capped.
The second goal was lethal for Olimpia, which nothing could have been done to close the gap in front of some Pumas, who achieved the first victory in its history as a visitor in a Copa Libertadores match.
