CLEVELAND (AP) — A person familiar with the negotiations says the Cleveland Browns are close to finalizing a contract extension with star wide receiver Jarvis Landry.
The sides remain in talks but expect to complete a deal soon, according to the person who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity Thursday because the deal has not been finalized.
ESPN first reported Landry’s extension.
The Browns acquired the three-time Pro Bowler from Miami in a trade last month. Landry, who caught a league-best 112 passes last season, signed a $16 million, one-year franchise tag with the Dolphins before he was traded.
The acquisition of Landry was one of several major offseason moves made by the Browns, who are coming off a 0-16 season. Cleveland has the No. 1 and No. 4 overall picks in the draft later this month and is expected to select a quarterback.
