There’s no good football in Mexico? The semifinal duel between the América and Necaxa, where the Eagles triumphed and qualified for the 2016 Opening Season final, almost broke social media networks, with a total of three million tweets, according to a report by Nielsen Social Content Rating.
What’s really surprising is that the duel between these former brothers surpassed El Clásico in Spain, as the game contested by Barcelona and Real Madrid had only a total of 1.5 million tweets in Mexico. In third place with 1.2 million interactions was the other Mexican semifinal between Tigres and León.
Oribe Peralta and André-Pierre Gignac generated 16,000 and 9,800 tweets respectively, and were the most mentioned players of both meetings of Liga MX, according to the study.
