It will take the whole year and the first quarter of 2022 to be able to vaccinate most of the population due to the slowness with which vaccines are arriving in the country, reported the Undersecretary of Prevention and Health Promotion, Hugo López Gatell, who He did not rule out that there could be delays.
Given this, I endorse your call to the population to be calm, be patient and wait for your turn.
“As they arrive they are used immediately and if another shipment arrives in the week and is used, but obviously the entire population cannot be vaccinated in a week, two or three. It will take us all year. Possibly to the first quarter of 2022 to be able to reach the 126 million people who live in Mexico ”.
He said that the speed with which the vaccine reaches the country is expected to increase in the following months.
At the evening press conference at the National Palace, he stated that at the moment an average of 3 to 4 million vaccines are arriving per month, for the month of May the allocation could increase to 7 million doses, “and in July we will have about 24 million doses ”, he says.
López Gatell indicated that so far 10 percent of the population has already been vaccinated.
Regarding the daily report on the cases of Covid-19, the director of Epidemiological Surveillance, José Luis Alomía, highlighted that Mexico reached 217 thousand 345 deaths and two million 536 thousand 400 cases of coronavirus among the population.
