President Donald Trump’s frantic first week in office left Mexicans trembling in angst and failure to understand the whys of The Donald’s aggression toward a peaceful developing nation like Mexico?
A fact is that this onslaught and the U.S. President’s insidious pursuit of the construction of a wall to further separate the two nations may have the background of a failed business that left Trump in dire need of vengeance against Mexicans.
If not, take a look at these two 2015 tweets:
I have a lawsuit in Mexico’s corrupt court system that I won but so far can’t collect. Don’t do business with Mexico!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) February 24, 2015
The Mexican legal system is corrupt, as is much of Mexico. Pay me the money that is owed me now – and stop sending criminals over our border
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) February 25, 2015
Both raging tweets are dated February 24, 2015, nearly two years ago and just about at the time he began his campaign for the GOP nomination.
But the suits Trump mentions are much older and date from 200-2007 at a time when the New York realtor was in love with Mexico and trying to expand his business.
One suit stems from the Miss Universe Pageant 2007, which was held in Mexico City, Cancun and Tuxtla Gutiérrez at the same time in tandem with television network National Broadcasting Corporation (NBC).
The Miss Universe contest was successfully held as scheduled and there were no visible reasons to complain about until about three years later, when Trump sued his Mexican partner Pedro Rodríguez Sierra of the Miss Universe Mexico Promotion Group.
According to Trump’s New York lawyers in 2006 this company signed a $6.5 million agreement getting an advance of one million from Trump. Among endorsement warranty MU Mexico created a trust fund covering 26 different properties that belonged to Yucatán developer and construction entrepreneur Rodolfo Rosas Moya. The compromised properties was prime Playa del Carmen land valued at $6 million.
Three years later, Rodolfo Rosas Moya was sued both in New York and Mexico by Donald Trump. Mexican authorities placed an embargo on the properties due to the suit filed by Trump as there were legal problems between Trump and Miss Universe organizer Pedro Rodríguez Sierra.
Rodolfo Rosas defended his property before a New York Arbitration Court judge who finally cleared him of all involvement, as Rosas had not participated in the Miss Universe contest and had not signed a direct contract with Trump.
Surely The Donald was furious at not getting the Caribbean properties he dreamt of. The judge considered the embargo on Rosas’ properties “unconstitutional” as he had had nothing to do with the original Miss Universe venture, which by the way ended up making Trump $8.5 million dollars.
In Mexico, a court dropped the charges against Rosas and did not follow suit.
In an ensuing 2015 interview with Mexico City daily newspaper La Jornada, Rosas probably hurt Trump’s feelings as he was quoted as saying: “What hurt Donald Trump was that his 300 lawyers were beaten by two of mine.”
The second case was the construction of a would be a Pacific Ocean front condo at Point Bandera, 10 miles south of the San Diego-Tijuana border. This project never went beyond being a hole in the sand which brought about a myriad of fraud suits against Donald Trump.
The Google Wikipedia says of the Punta Bandera project:
“After four and a half years of litigation, Trump settled the lawsuit against him in November 2013, for an undisclosed amount. Trump’s developer partners, Jason Grosfeld, Adam Fisher and Irongate Developers had earlier settled with the buyers for $7.25 million. The attorneys representing almost 200 buyers in the litigation venued in Los Angeles County were Bart I. Ring and Daniel J. King.”
In the aftermath, Trump faces other tax fraud charges in Mexico as in October 2016 his Mexican partners filed a criminal complaint against Trump for fraud involved in this development as well as tax evasion on Trump’s mercantile business in Mexico.
Is this a good motive for his wrath against Mexico and Mexicans and do whatever is in his power to destroy the nation? For an ordinary businessman perhaps not but who ever said Trump’s hatred against Mexico was ordinary? The man hates the nation with a vengeance.
