The police raid was looking to arrest Juan Francisco Patrón Sánchez, one of the leaders of the Beltrán Leyva cartel

The Mexican presidential candidate Margarita Zavala demanded National Regeneration Movement (Morena) candidate Andrés Manuel López Obrador to present evidence of the assault on minors, allegedly committed by members of the Navy Secretariat (Semar) in a recent police search in Nayarit.

The police operation was looking to arrest Juan Francisco Patrón Sánchez, one of the leaders of the Beltrán Leyva cartel.

“The country’s safety cannot allow for nods to criminals. #Nayarit,” Zavala said on Twitter.
