This Monday is the beginning of the 2017 Verano Activo (active summer) program in Morelos, with 10,800 children across 33 municipalities taking part. The premise of the program is “Play, Read, Discover, Explore and Learn,” said the Morelos Culture Secretary, Cristina Faesler.
Faesler explained that this year workshops will highlight the importance of separating garbage. Virginia Espinos will lead workshops and will explain the correct way to deal with the waste and the consequences of not separating it.
She added that the program began in 2013 with the participation of 7,900 children and the main objective was to provide them with spaces for play, coexistence and exploration and recreational activities during the summer.
Faesler explained that to complement the activities, three trips are arranged foreseen. “We will go to a museum, a pool, and an archaeological zone,” she said.
The summer program is developed in coordination with the Education Secretariat, the Morelos Family Development Agency (DIF) System and the Morelos Institute of Basic Education (IEBEM), Faesler said.
