Although Veracruz will still owe municipal governments funds, they hope to pay workers before the end of Flavino Ríos's term

Veracruz interim governor Flavino Ríos will hold a meeting with governor-elect Miguel Ángel Yunes and officials of the Treasury and Public Finance Secretariat (SHCP) to discuss the lack of payment to Veracruz public servants.

The conversation was prompted by the Interior Secretariat (Segob), under the instruction of President Enrique Peña Nieto.

Questioned about the debt of the municipal governments, Flavino Ríos said that it will not be possible to settle the debt. The governor stressed that the last days of his administration will be devoted to “payroll matters,” and confirmed that by the end of his term “we will be okay.”
