CNDH and UNAM Sign Agreement to Address Gender Issues

The National Human Rights Commission (CNDH) and the National Autonomous University of Mexico’s (UNAM) Gender Studies Program (PUEG) signed an agreement to collaborate in the creation of spaces that work towards gender equality.

CNDH president Luis Raúl González Pérez said that they hope that this measure will help reduce acts of violence against women. He also explained that these agreements aim to increase dialogue concerning the most pressing gender issues, such as the wage gap, violence against women, migrations of females, femicide and human trafficking, among others.

Head of UNAM’s Humanities Coordination Domingo Alberto Vital Díaz said that this agreement will strengthen their work and outreach capacity. Because of this, PUEG has become the Center for Research and Gender Studies.

With this action, the UNAM reaffirms its commitment to promote and develop gender research that addresses the social demands of Mexico, from a multidisciplinary perspective.
