UAEMéx Foundation awarded academic and need-based scholarships to almost 70 students from the Autonomous University of the State of Mexico (UAEM). The foundation also provided grants for national and international exchange students, as well as nine instruments for the university’s Young Symphony Orchestra (OSJUAEM).
During the awards ceremony, rector Alfredo Barrera Baca stressed the importance of witnessing society’s support for the university’s students. UAEMéx Foundation president Víctor Humberto Benítez Treviño was also present at the ceremony.
In his speech, Barrera Baca spelled out the importance of the awarded scholarships, which will benefit students who otherwise would not be able to afford the cost of higher education, as well as musically-inclined students and those about to spend a semester studying in another country or state, he said.
The foundation awarded 18 academic scholarships and nine need-based ones. It also gave 30 economic grants for students going abroad and 10 to students traveling to another state.
