Students and academics of the Nursing Department at the Valle de Chalco campus of the Autonomous University of the State of Mexico (UAEM) carried out its second Conference on Health. The objective of the conference was to strengthen the culture of prevention, diagnosis, treatment and self-examination in the fight against breast cancer, cervical cancer and prostate cancer.
At the event, the director of UAEM’s Valle de Chalco campus, René Guadalupe Cruz Flores, accompanied by the coordinator of the Nursing Department, Julio Flores Villegas, and the coordinator of postgraduate studies in Nursing, María Teresa Cuamatzi Peña, recognized the quality of the work presented by students at the Conference on Health.
During the opening ceremony of the event, Cruz Flores underlined the importance of the early detection of any type of cancer, as it improves the prognosis and rates of survival of those who suffer from the disease.
Activities including talks about self-examination for early detection of breast cancer took place, as well as discussions on the study of cervical cancer and clinical diagnosis to detect prostate cancer.
The Health Rally for Prostate Cancer Prevention was also carried out, with tetanus and viral vaccines being given to the attendees.
