Two Women Detained in Sonora for Drug Possession

SONOYTA, Sonora – The U.S. Customs and Border Protection announced that two women were detained and 141 kilograms of marijuana were confiscated from two operations on the border towns of Sonoyta-Lukeville and Agua Prieta-Douglas.

The U.S. department said that the drugs were found in the women’s vehicles with the help of canine units. The total worth of the drugs found amounts to $162,000.

The women who was arrested in Lukeville is a 26-year-old Mexican woman, who was found with 111 pounds of marijuana inside her Chrysler vehicle.

The other woman, who was arrested in between Agua Prieta and Douglas, is a resident of Tuscan, Arizona. She attempted to enter the United States with 200 pound of marijuana in her Lexus sedan.

Both women were detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the drugs were confiscated.
