The first debate between the six candidates for governor of the State of Mexico will take place Tuesday at 8 p.m.

The debate is organized and hosted by the State of Mexico State Institute (IEEM) and will be moderated by journalist Javier Solórzano.

The candidates attending the debate are Alfredo Del Mazo Maza for the coalition between the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI), the Green Party (PVEM), the New Alliance Party and the Social Encounter Party, as well as Josefina Vásquez Mota of the National Action Party (PAN). Also in attendance are Delfina Gómez Alvarez of the National Regeneration Movement (Morena), Juan Cepeda Hernández of the Democratic Revolution Party (PRD), Oscar González Yáñez of the Labor Party (PT) and independent candidate Teresa Castell de Oro Palacios.

The IEEM said that independent candidate Isidro Pastor was not invited, after the State of Mexico Electoral Tribunal (TEEM) revoked his registry and asked IEEM to review his paperwork.

The debate will focus on three main issues that will be addressed in the following order: Public Safety and Justice, Fighting Corruption and Social Development.

Each candidate is allowed a one and a half minute introduction, two and a half minutes for each issue and one minute for rebuttal.

The debate will be broadcasted by the State of Mexico Radio and Television System and through the IEEM website.
