The Forest Protection Agency (Probosque) and the organization Reforestamos México, announced the “Legal Timber” project, seeking to promote the legality and transparency of the origin of wood used in the State of Mexico.
A digital platform will register all the properties, mills and sawmills of the state, which are required to work under specific timber harvesting regulations.
Yolotsi Olivares, general director of the Mexican organization, said that this is a pilot program that will give foresters a competitive advantage over illegal timber, as well as guarantee that the big buyers of this raw material will go through official avenues.
