The Executive Committee of the Section 32 of the National Education Workers Union (SNTE) in the state of Veracruz, led by its Secretary General Lázaro Medina Barragán, met with SNTE President Juan Díaz de la Torre, in order to trace the route of an union which can be increasingly useful to its members and society in general.
Medina Barragán stated the commitment of the SNTE’s Section 32 to strengthen teachers in Veracruz and to support the leadership of Díaz de la Torre in the challenge of defending public schools and contributing to raise the quality of education without affecting the rights of workers.
Díaz de la Torre said that teaching remains a cornerstone in the development of the country and that public schools are the only possibility for social mobility, hence the great responsibility of the SNTE to become better and continue to fulfill its commitments to Mexico.
During the meeting, members of the National Governing Bodies of the SNTE presented the 2016 Strategic Plan of the Union, with the aim of unifying criteria on the matter.
“The vocation of the SNTE is to ensure that public schools are the basis of our certainties as workers and Mexicans who are linked to the country’s communities. We need to maintain our strength, our unity and pride. The message is to commit and make all of society know about our commitment,” said Díaz de la Torre.
