Treasury and Public Finance Secretary (SHCP) José Antonio Meade Kuribreña said that the latest Fiscal Reform already contains measures meant to identify inexistent companies and government authorities have been reporting on them on a monthly basis.
“SAT [the Tax Administration Service] has been advocating for examinations to be a standard procedure before appointing a company to a public project. That way we’ll make sure we’re hiring actual companies,” he said, later adding that “it would be worthwhile incorporating this process to the law.”
SAT and the Public Affairs Secretariat (SFP) have already agreed to probe companies appointed to public projects in order to make sure they’re real, Meade Kuribreña said.
SFP head Arely Gómez González said that they’ve been working since January with SAT and SHCP to detect inconsistencies in companies’ official documentation, to determine if they are actually shell corporations.
