Meade Kuribeña said that the stimulus, will stay in place for the rest of 2017

The Treasury and Public Finance (SHCP) Secretary José Antonio Meade Kuribeña said that the SCHP is currently evaluating whether to keep the fiscal stimulus for fuels in 2018.

In a press conference, Meade Kuribeña said that the stimulus, which so far in 2017 has costed the public treasury 25 billion pesos ($1.3 billion), will stay in place for the rest of the year.

Meade Kuribeña said that this stimulus will have an impact on the recollection of the Special Tax on Production and Services (IEPS), as it will be less than predicted for 2017.

“This doesn’t compromise public finances or the objectives that have been set,” said Meade Kuribeña.
