On Wednesday students will return to 768 schools in Mexico City after they were structurally inspected and cleared, said Public Education Secretary Aurelio Nuño Mayer.
Nuño Mayer said that both public and private institutions have been cleared to resume classes, amongst which 49 are daycare centers of the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS).
There are 50 schools that will need to be partially or totally rebuilt according to Nuño Mayer, who said that they are working at maximum capacity to inspect the remaining schools.
“It will take us two or three weeks, but the most important thing is the safety of the students, the teachers and peace of mind for the parents and that’s why we have decided to go school to school in Mexico City and other affected areas with qualified experts,” said Nuño Mayer.
