Senate Asks for Information About Influenza Cases

The Democratic Revolution Party (PRD) parliamentary Senate group asked the Secretary of Health, José Narro Robles, to provide a report about the number of people hospitalized for influenza and who have died from November 2015 to the present.

They also asked Narro Robles to submit another report that explains the causes for the shortage in Tamiflu medication used to cure the respiratory virus.

In addition, the PRD asked for information about preventive measures that are being implemented to contain the outbreak, in order to protect citizens.

Pablo Kuri Morales, Under Secretary of Health Prevention and Promotion, said that from October 2015 to the present there have been 1,997 cases of influenza. Of these cases, there have been 79 deaths.

The official said that the reason for the increase in cases is for the cold weather, which stated in January and mostly affected people between the ages of 40 and 50.
