The secular state is one of Benito Juárez García’s the major accomplishments, said Colegio Mexiquense (State of Mexico College) Autonomous University of the State of Mexico (UAEM) Foundation president Humberto Benítez Treviño during the presentation of his book, “Benito Juárez and the Relevance of the Reform Laws on the 1917 Mexican Constitution,” during the Colegio Mexiquense book fair.
Ignacio Pichardo Pagaza, former governor of the State of Mexico and retired UAEM professor, attended the presentation alongside Osiris Ramírez Prado, undersecretary to Rector José Olvera García. Benítez Treviño highlighted the historic importance of the link established between “the forefather of modern Mexico and the 1917 Constitution.” His book analyzes eight of the Reform Laws and four decrees where “the design for a new face of the country” can be perceived.
Ramírez Prado, who participated by commenting on the text, noted that the content of this book renders it an essential text in order to understand the Reform Laws and their importance.
