The National Defense Secretariat (Sedena) announced on Thursday that a second assault with fire arms took place in Puebla. The attack was countered by foot soldiers and resulted in the deaths of three assailants and two soldiers, while nine soldiers and one assailant were injured.
The first of the two attacks happened two hours earlier when soldiers responded to a call on illegal extraction of fuel by a group known as “Huachicoleros.” After opening fire, the assailants used women and children as a human shield which caused the military forces to cease fire.
