Head of the Federal Consumer Protection Agency (Profeco) Ernesto Nemer Álvarez will tour 13 cities with large amounts of travelers to personally verify that consumers’ rights are being respected during the summer vacation period.
All of Profeco’s operations across the country will be reinforced as well.
The summer vacation period for 25.9 million students begins on Friday.
“We’re going to use the strategy of touring the interior of the country, as we did during Holy Week, for eight days out of the 15 in the summer vacation season,” said Nemer Álvarez. “We’re going to visit 13 cities to verify that there are no unjustified price increases and that services paid for are provided. We’ll be visiting supermarkets, bus stations, travel agencies, restaurants, hotels and other places.”
Profeco will insure that discounts for students and teachers are respected.
