PGR Recovers More than 123,000 Fake Cigarettes in Two States

An investigation into who is responsible is now underway

Mexico – The Attorney General’s Office (PGR) reported that it has recovered 123,600 illegal cigarettes in the states of Michoacán and Tabasco.

Officials from the Criminal Investigation Agency (AIC) seized 11,600 illicit cigarettes at a parcel company located in Paseo de la República, in the Ignacio Zaragoza area of the city of Morelia, Michoacán.

In the cities of Macuspana and Huimanguillo in Tabasco, AIC agents seized 560 cartons of cigarettes of various foreign brands containing 5,600 packs, holding a total of 112,000 fake cigarettes.

Everything seized was made available to the Public Prosecutor’s Office (MP), which has initiated an investigation into who were involved and who is responsible for the crime.
