PGR Confirms Borge Arrest in Panama

Interpol agents assisted in the investigation that led to Borge Angulo's capture

The General Attorney’s Office (PGR) announced in a press statement that former governor of Quintana Roo, Roberto Borge Angulo was captured early Monday morning in Panama.

The PGR had asked the General Secretary of The International Police Organization (Interpol) to put out a red alert on Borge Angulo.

Interpol Panama agents worked alongside the PGR’s Criminal Investigation Agency (AIC) in the investigation, which led them to a hotel in Panama City where Borge Angulo was staying. The agencies learned that Borge Angulo was taking a flight to Paris in the morning.

Agents were waiting for him at the Tocumen International Airport where he was arrested.

Borge Angulo is wanted in Mexico for the use of illicit funds and various corruption charges that during his time as governor of Quinatan Roo.
