On a working trip to Houston, Texas, President Enrique Peña Nieto said that Mexico and the United states must become more integrated with one another in order to make the North American region the most competitive in the world.
“The economies of both countries are highly complementary and the current economic uncertainty and financial volatility make clear that the correct choice of action is to further cooperate and integrate, not isolate ourselves,” said Peña Nieto.
“We need to open up and become closer. Then, the economies of both our countries will achieve the shared prosperity we have proposed and which our societies deserve. Continued dialogue and mutual understanding are the best tools to achieve this,” he added.
The working trip to the United States renews the commitment of Peña Nieto’s administration to achieve the goals of making North America the most competitive region in the world and strengthen the common border as a peace of prosperity for both nations.
