Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto stressed that after Mexico climbed to the eighth place in the ranking of arrivals of international tourists, the country is consolidated as a world tourism power.
On Tuesday, the World Tourism Organization (WTO) reported that at the end of last year the arrival of 35 million international tourists to Mexico was registered, which allowed the country to move from the ninth to the eighth site.
“Mexico achieves it again: @UNWTO announced that we have climbed from the 9th to the 8th most visited country in the world, with 35 million tourists in 2016,” he published in his Twitter account @EPN.
“We also increased from 16th place to 14th place in revenues for tourism, which is reflected in greater development, jobs and better salaries in this sector.”
“These data consolidate Mexico as a global tourist power. Congratulations to all the members of the sector that made it possible,” he wrote in the social network.
