The goal of the operation will be to protect participants in Guelaguetza festivities

Various Oaxaca security forces and emergency responders will participate in Operation Guelaguetza 2016.

The goal of Operation Guelaguetza 2016 will be to protect people participating in Guelaguetza festivities. Around 180 police, firefighters, emergency health workers and others will participate.

The emergency workers will provide relief to those inside and outside the Guelaguetza Auditorium, and whenever there is a high concentration of people.

The operation will offer a fire truck, ambulances and first aid in the Central Valley, Coastal and Isthmus of Tehuantepec regions of the state.

Oaxaca Fire Chief Manuel Maza Sánchez said that they expect the most common accidents to be road accidents and health conditions related to weather.

He asked visitors and residents of Oaxaca to drive carefully and to respect transit signals, to avoid overexposure to the sun, to stay hydrated, to eat healthy and to consume alcohol with moderation.

Visitors and residents in Oaxaca can call 066 in case of emergency of 089 to make an anonymous report to the police.
