Social Development Secretary (Sedesol) José Antonio Meade Kuribreña said that blockades in Oaxaca have affected 1,850 Diconsa milk providers over the last 10 days. These stores support the needs of more than 1.5 million people throughout the state.
Meade Kuribreña said that the most important thing to do is to “ensure that protests and demonstrations do not affect the people who depend on this service.”
The supply of liquid milk produced and distributed by Liconsa has been restored. However, the distribution of powdered milk, carried out by Diconsa, is currently halted, he added.
The situation is the result of 22 out of 30 Diconsa centers in Oaxaca being out of service.
