National Security Commissioner Renato Sales Heredia designated Benjamín Grajeda Regalado as the new commissar of the National Gendarmerie Tuesday.
Former National Gendarmerie head Manelich Castilla Craviotto recently left the position to become commissioner of the Federal Police.
Sales Heredia asked the new commissioner to work to protect productive cycles and to strengthen security in places where authorities have significant presences.
Grajeda Regalado graduated from the Navy’s Heroica Escuela Naval Militar and became a Frigate Captain in the Navy. As a part of the Federal Police, he was general director of planning and logistics for the Gendarmerie.
