An intelligence agent who observed the aggressions suffered by the 43 students from Ayotzinapa Rural Teachers’ College, took photos with his phone, downloaded them to his computer and then deleted the photos from his phone, because he considered them to no longer be important. Currently the photos are not under investigation, just like a video that was taken by security cameras in the Palacio de Justicia in Iguala, Guerrero.
The attack on the students is one of the least documented attacks, said the Interdisciplinary Group of Independent Experts (GIEI), because all of the students that were traveling on the Estrella de Oro 1531 bus disappeared.
In his statement from August 2015, the soldier said that he was about 150 meters away from the bus when a police unit and truck arrived. He added that it was also dark out, which is also why he considered the photos to be irrelevant. He said that he could, however hear the students yelling, “Long live Ayotzinapa! We’re not getting out for the police. They can come in and get us.” The police then responded, saying that if the students did not evacuate of the bus, the situation would become worse for them.
His statement consisted of four questions given by the Public Prosecutor. The Attorney General’s Office for Special Investigations (SEIDO) never asked for the photos taken by the soldier or asked about their absence.
