Mexico City Mayor Miguel Ángel Mancera presented his five chosen delegates to the city’s constitutional assembly with his draft of the constitution Thursday. The draft was written by a group of experts led by Mancera.
The constitutional assembly will meet at the Xicontécatl Casona, the former seat of the Mexican Senate. A directive committee made up of the oldest and most experienced deputies took office on Thursday.
The directive committee is led by Augusto Gómez Villanueva, of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI), and its vice presidents are Bernardo Bátiz and Ifigenia Martínez and its secretaries are Porfirio Muñoz Ledo y Javier Jiménez Espriú.
Once the constitutional assembly takes office, it will have until Jan. 31, 2016 to draft a constitution.
