Today the Mayor of Mexico City Miguel Ángel Mancera Espinosa instructed Dhyana Quintanar Solares to leave her position as Public Space Authority, in order to facilitate inquiries initiated by the General Comptroller’s Office of Mexico City on the incriminating content of telephone recordings made public, so as to determine where responsibility lies in the matter.
The recordings seem to incriminate Quintanar Solares of interceding in favor of publicity companies in relation to the Metrobus Line 7 project, seeking to obtain bus stop publicity concessions for the JCDecaux company. Additionally, she is also recorded as signing illegal permits to help public association VerdMX for them to charge an indemnity for a public work that was finally canceled.
The official statement from the authorities stated: “The government of Mexico City reasserts with these actions its commitment to transparency, accountability and access to public information”.
With this, Quintanar joins the list of former cabinet members accused of acts of corruption and forced to resign, later being sanctioned and disqualified by the capital’s comptroller from working in the local government.
