Mexico City Mayor Miguel Ángel Mancera announced that there will be two demonstrations this Saturday, one for same-sex marriage, and the other against. City authorities will try to avoid conflict among the two protests.
“We will do our best to avoid confrontation, and we will do everything in our power to have both continue without issues. We hope for everyone to have the ability to march, so that people can understand both sides of the argument. Ultimately, we want to have a good Saturday,” Mancera said. “It is the constitutional right of anyone in the city to participate in demonstrations and we want to protect that right.”
