After complaining that the new federal budget will not help Mexico City improve its public transportation system, Mexico City Mayor Miguel Ángel Mancera promised to defend the budget of the capital city.
“It’s not fair, in any way, that they haven’t given even a single peso for the Metro,” he said, speaking to an assembly of public transportation workers Friday. “Not even for line 12, not even for line 9, not even for line A. They aren’t fulfilling their promises.”
Mancera reiterated that he will attempt to meet with new Treasury Secretary José Antonio Meade, to demand that the capital city be given its budget.
“I don’t want to get ahead of myself, but I want to say that I am going to defend the city,” he said.
