Rock band Los Daniels closed the 20th edition of the “April, Reading Month” program at the Autonomous University of the State of Mexico (UAEM) with a concert in which more than 5,000 people attended. The aim of the program is to promote the habit of reading among the university community and society in general. On this occasion the program was held to celebrate 60 years since the Scientific and Literary Institute of Toluca (ICLA) became the UAEM.
The 20th edition of this celebration, in which the university paid tribute to Horacio Zúñiga, poet, writer, and professor of the ICLA, featured nearly 300 different academic, cultural, artistic and recreational activities such as book presentations, theater, dance and film events, exhibitions, workshops and concerts.
During a news conference, Los Daniels recognized the efforts of the UAEM to carry out events that bring young people closer to books and reading. The rock band was formed in 2007 and their latest record, entitled “Inmortal,” features 10 songs and was recorded during a period of three years.
The concert was held at the Autonomy Garden of the rectory building, where the UAEM’s festival of literature ended its festivities.
