Reporter for La Jornada, Miroslava Breach Velducea, was murdered outside of her home Thursday in Chihuahua. She was shot eight times by .38 caliber guns; the assailants are unknown. Breach Velducea was 54 years old and worked as a journalist for La Jornada and Norte de Juárez.
Breach Velducea was coming out of her driveway in her Renault SUV when she was intercepted by the armed men that claimed her life.
Red Cross paramedics arrived at the scene and tried to give her medical attention, but there was nothing they could do. The gunshots were the cause of death.
The Attorney Generals Office (PGR) released a statement that the Special Attorney for the Attention of Committed Crimes against Freedom of Expression (Feadle) has gone to Chihuahua to investigate and clarify the matter of the reporter’s murder.
