The Veracruz State Prosecutor’s Office announced that they began an investigation into the attack on National Regeneration Movement (Morena) leader Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO), which took place Thursday afternoon.

While leaving a rally in Huatusco, López Obrador was hit by an egg that came from an alleged Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) supporter.

According to Senator Miguel Barbosa Huerta, the attack that López Obrador suffered in Huatusco, Veracruz, represents the frustration and fear of the other political parties.

Barbosa Huerta said that PRI, the National Action Party (PAN) and the Democratic Revolution Party (PRD) want to stop Morena’s momentum.

“This represents the fear and powerlessness of the PRI, PAN and PRD. They won’t stop López Obrador or Morena in their path to 2018,” said Barbosa Huerta.
