Hidalgo PRI Official Denies Any Ties to Organized Crime

The leader of the state of Hidalgo’s Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI), Alberto Meléndez Apodaca, denied that the candidates in his state had any links to organized crime. He reminded that the National Political Council took the decision of creating a commission to review and ensure that all candidates had an transparent track record.

“In addition to the documents that the law demands, we all knew that we were under the scrutiny of the National Committee, and are attentive to any observations,” he stated. The president of the PRI in Hidalgo pointed out that the National Committee is in charge of reviewing the candidates, and they are awaiting any information. He added, however that in his state “were honest men and women, working and sincere with the citizens.”

SECURITY

Meléndez Apodaca also mentioned that no security would be requested for his candidates.

“The state at the moment guarantees all the aspect of security and every one of them is doing an effort, is traveling and doing so with total freedom and no problems, and therefore we don’t consider that to be necessary.”

In the specific case of the municipality of Ixmiquilpan, where conflicts have arisen as citizens forbade the PRI candidate to enter the Mandhó community, Meléndez Apodaca said that no extra security would be asked. “We will multiply our presence, our activities and we will be attentive to everything.”
