The National Weather Service (SMN) reported heavy rains and electrical storms are expected to hit the northern areas of Coahuila, Nuevo León and Tamaulipas Monday, with winds in excess of 40 kilometers per hour in Chihuahua and Coahuila.
Heavy rains are also expected in Durango, Zacatecas, San Luis Potosí, Aguascalientes, Guanajuato, Querétaro, Hidalgo, Jalisco, Michoacán, the State of Mexico and Mexico City.
The National Water Commission (Conagua) explained that the unusual weather patterns are due to a channel of low pressure coming from the northeast towards Mexico, which is increasing humidity levels in the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean.
