Guerrero Kidnapping Victims Freed

After being freed, they walked down a hill through heavy vegetation and around cliffs, until receiving help from police

Security spokesperson Roberto Álvarez Heredia said that five people who had been kidnapped on Nov. 18 by the “Los Tequileros” criminal group have been freed. The five people were found in San Miguel Totolapan, Tierra Caliente.

Álvarez Heredia said that the victims, all men, were freed around 8 p.m. After being freed, they walked down a hill through heavy vegetation and around cliffs, until receiving help from police.

The five were then taken to their homes in San Jerónimo El Grande, Ajuchitlán del Progreso. Tomorrow, they will testify before prosecutors.

“The kidnapped people said there were no other kidnapping victims still held by ‘Los Tequileros,’” said Álvarez Heredia.

He added that it is not know whether the victims’ relatives payed ransoms.
