Director of the Metro Transportation System Jorge Gaviño Ambríz stated the the delays on Line 7 were not caused by a worker’s strike demanding overtime pay.
The head of the Collective Transportation System (STC) announced Friday morning that the 30-minute delay was caused by a personnel shortage, as seven workers were absent. Commuters were upset and posted pictures of crowded trains and hallways on social media.

Gaviño Ambríz also noted that the service disruption began at 6:00 a.m. and was restored to normal after 9:00 a.m., and continued to operate as usual for the rest of the day. He also said the rumors about delayed payment were false. Gaviño will meet with union leader Fernando Espino to go over the time tables and make sure there aren’t any outstanding payments.
