Duarte was charged with corruption and resigned Oct. 12

Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) Senate Coordinator Emilio Gamboa Patrón denied media reports claiming that he helped former Veracruz Gov. Javier Duarte de Ochoa flee to evade court. He called these claims perverse.

“It disgusts me to think of whoever thought of these stories. I strongly reject it, I have no relation to his disappearance,” he said. “I have not spoken to him. I do not know whether he has fled or not.”

Gamboa Patrón acknowledged that there are many people who want to defame him. Due to this, the story that he has been hiding Duarte de Ochoa in a house between the State of Mexico and Michoacán has easily spread.
