Farmworkers Meet with PRI

After rural organizations staged a sit-in at the PRI headquarters to demand distribution of the promised budget, Monroy del Mazo went to meet them to reaffirm that agrarian causes are important to the party

Institutional Revolution Party (PRI) General Secretary Carolina Monroy del Mazo announced the party’s commitment to farmworker organizations. In regards to the next year, she said the party will monitor the allocation of resources to farmers and that the resources arrive in a timely manner.

After rural organizations staged a sit-in at the PRI headquarters to demand distribution of the promised budget, Monroy del Mazo went to meet them to reaffirm that agrarian causes are important to the party.

She emphasized the willingness of PRI President Enrique Ochoa Reza to support them, noting that rural Mexico is one of the foundations of the party.

She announced that Ochoa Reza will promised support during the coming year and would authorize the budget which will give resources to farms, especially small producers.

Carolina Monroy asked the farmworker organizations, including the Frente Auténtico del Campo (Authentic Farm Front), to allow PRI leaders to visit the headquarters of their organizations so that next year can be one of dialogue and mutual understanding.
