Family Demands Justice for Sexually Abused Daughter

The family of an 11-year-old girl, who’s body was found in the municipality of Nezahualcóyotl in the State of Mexico with signs of sexual assault, led a march alongside friends an neighbors demanding justice for the crime.

The march started at the family’s home in the Benito Juárez neighborhood and proceeded to the local mayor’s office.

The minor was first reported missing on Thursday, one day her father sent her home in a public transport van, during a torrential downpour. However, Valeria never made it to her house and her body was later found in the same van.

According to the Senate Belisario Domínguez Institute, just in the years 2015 to 2016, there were at least 236 femicides in the State of Mexico.

The child’s family is demanding that the alleged killer is not released and that public transportation be regularized.
