EPN Sends Air Transport Agreement to Senate

President Enrique Peña Nieto sent to the Senate the Air Transport Agreement between the government of Mexico and the government of the United States, signed in Washington, D.C. on Dec. 18, 2015, so that it can be ratified.

According to the federal government, the agreement will encourage the development of air services between Mexico and the United States, both passenger and cargo on scheduled and charter flights, which will contribute to strengthening the bilateral relationship and the growth of various sectors of the economies of both countries.

The agreement is based on the commitment of both countries to promote and facilitate an international aviation system based on market competition.

In this way, Mexican and U.S. airlines will be able to carry out operations under commercial cooperation agreement with domestic, foreign or even third-party airlines, without any restrictions on the number of airlines. This will make the operation and commercial planning of the airlines more flexible, which in turn will increase their profitability.
