A conflicting pair of voter ID cards belonging to Cuauhtémoc Blanco contradicts his arguments to credit his place of residence as Cuernavaca, Morelos. The situation is currently being analyzed by deputies at the Congress of Morelos in order to revoke Blanco’s position.
One of Blanco’s voter ID cards from before he became involved in politics establishes his place of residence in Mexico City. This document was issued in 1991.
On the other hand, the ID Blanco used to obtain his registration with the Morelos Institute for Electoral Procedures and Citizen Participation (Impepac) to run for mayor dates 2014. This document states Blanco’s place of residence as Cuernavaca, Morelos.
This evidence is being used to prove that Blanco “presented false documentation” to certify his place of residence. On December 2015, a private citizen presented a complaint before the Electoral Crimes Prosecutor’s Office (FEPADE) claiming that the soccer player “falsified documents and provided false information to tamper with the National Registry of Citizens.”
The plaintiff also claims that Blanco does not comply with the mandatory 10 years of residency in Cuernavaca necessary to run for a public position. This claim is backed by the star’s trajectory across Mexico, the United States and Spain since the year 1973.
