One of Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán Loera’s legal representatives, Juan Pablo Badillo, stated that the transfer of the convict from Altiplano to the Federal Social Rehabilitation Center No. 9 (Cefereso) in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua was carried out in a violent manner.
The lawyer requested an amparo (a Mexican constitutional legal process that protects citizens and their basic rights) against the administrative authority’s acts, after police and armed forces removed Guzmán Loera from Cefereso 1 in Almoloya de Juárez.
The legal representative said that Guzmán Loera wants to return to Altiplano, because at Cefereso 9 he was isolated “under the same intimidatory tactics of terror and torture to which he was subjected to in the Cefereso 1.”
The convict’s defense contends that his client is in a state of anxiety, uncertainty and fear because of the application for extradition by the United States.
